Who thinks of winter sports, thinks of skiing and cross-country skiing.
In Zasada there is a small ski slope, ideal for families with children.
Larger winter sports areas in the immediate vicinity are: Zelezny Brod (7 km), Tanvaldský Špičák (9 km), Jablonec nad Nisou (14 km), Severák (23 km), Ještěd in Liberec and, Harrachov (26 km) and finally Rokytnice nad Jizerou (30 km).
The Jizera Mountains are an attractive location for winter sports with many kilometers of arranged tracks and ski-centers. A true tourist hub for both downhill skiing and ski run is Bedřichov.
The international cross-country races Jizerská 50 and Bieg Piastów take place here.
Winter sports fans have top equipped mountain centers to their disposal.
The ski resort Tanvaldský Špičák, for example, has something for everyone: for beginners blue slopes, the experienced skiers can use the red slopes, for advanced skiers there is a black track.
Ski schools for children and adults, as well as learning slopes for the children, are the usual standard for high-quality ski centers in this region.
You have the option to buy a ski pass for 3 centers at once: Bedřichov, and Severák Tanvaldský Špičák. The prices are very competitive.
The cross-country skiers will also find many opportunities.
You can expect no less than 80 km cross-country trails on the 'Road Jizera'.
If you want something different than skiing, the warm water of the aqua park in Liberec is a good alternative. Located in a pleasant scenery of romantic spa milieu it is the largest and most visited aqua park of the Czech Republic. You will find many attractions like roller coasters, a wide water slide, a wave pool, geysers, and places for relaxation with water massage and the possibility to hear underwater music in the romantic caves with aquariums.
In addition, Liberec itself is a very attractive city for shopping, eating or walking.
After a busy day, a magnificent idea is to recover and relax by tasting local specialties in a restaurant. You have plenty of choice: there are restaurants 700 m, 3 km, 6 km and 9 km away.
