Daytrips from the Farmhouse

    There are many trips you can do from Zasada Farmhouse during the day and be back by night. The Bohemian Paradise offers not only excellent conditions for hiking and biking but is also exceptionally rich in historic monuments, such as the well-known ruins of Trosky castle or the Renaissance chateau of Hruba Skala.

Jablonec nad Nisou
The town lies in the green valley of the River Nisa. Once it was one of the most important center for glass production and costume jewelry industry for years. Jablonec has a number of interesting buildings representing different architectural styles. Some of the places worth seeing are the New Town Hall, the baroque Church of St Anne, the Town Theatre, the Museum of Glass and Jewelry located in an interesting art nouveau building, At the beginning of the 20th century, a unique town dam was built just outside the town center. It has become a technical monument which serves as an attractive recreation area.

Macha’s Lake (Máchovo Jezero)
This natural lake is a very popular recreational area located in North Bohemia. Large sandy beaches, woods and romantic surroundings (Doksy Chateau, Bezdez Castle) make this location a favorite. It has plentiful support facilities indispensable for water sports; several yacht clubs, boat rentals and tennis courts. Summer festivals and social events take place here during the whole tourist season.

Liberec
The city of Liberec is situated in an attractive natural environment surrounded by the Jizera Mountains. The first site to visit is the place from where you can see most of the city: the Jested Tower. Positioned on the top of the mountain it is a distinctive funnel-shaped building. The upper levels of the building are a hotel but the two floors below house a café bar, restaurant and reception. Outside there are very impressive viewing points all the way round the construction. A number of mountain trails cross this point which makes it the perfect stopping place for hikers, mountain bikers and even joggers. If you have children, the city’s zoo is a must. The site is big enough to fill an afternoon and contains a wonderful selection of animals (about 143 species), including large mammals like elephants, giraffes, sea lions and the extremely rare white tigers. The Botanical Garden in Liberec has 9 glasshouses for visitors and a large exterior terrain. It continues the legacy of the botanical garden established in 1876 and is therefore considered the oldest one in the Czech Republic. Liberec's prominent buildings are the Town Hall and the castle of Count Clam Gallas, built in the 17th century,

If you visit the historical town of Frydlant, you can admire the fascinating Gothic castle, built in the 13th century. It consists of an ancient upper castle with an almost 50-m high tower, a new lower castle and a residential Castellan wing. Visitors are guided through more than 50 accessible interiors. Many of the rooms have outstanding historical decorations. Interiors are equipped with furniture from the past 4 centuries. There are ceramics and china, abundant armory, and other valuable collections.
